IWSC to hold third wine and spirits competition in Georgia

The IWSC (International Wines and Spirits Competition) will hold its third competition in Georgia. In addition to the unique wines of Georgia, this year the IWSC International Competition will add a spirits category for the first time.

IWSC 2025 Wine & Spirits Judging in Georgia, in collaboration with the Gurjaani Wine Festival and the National Wine Agency of Georgia, will be held in Tbilisi from November 27 to December 1, 2024. As is tradition, IWSC will bring a star-studded team of international judges to Georgia, whose experience and knowledge will ensure that the competition is held to the highest standards. The jury will be led by renowned Georgian wine expert and IWSC Jury Committee member, Master of Wine Sarah Abbott. The names of the remaining wine judges, as well as the spirits jury members, will be announced in the near future.

Along with international experts, the judging panel will be joined by local Georgian wine and spirits specialists. “During our previous visits to Georgia, our international judging panel discovered not only the country’s rich wine heritage, but also its authentic wine-making culture. From chacha to Georgian cognac, the diversity of Georgian spirits truly deserves international attention.

We are thrilled that our global competition will include both wine and spirits in Georgia this year and look forward to hosting this outstanding event in your beautiful country,” said Christel Giber, Executive Director of the IWSC. “IWSC Wine Judging in Georgia has firmly established itself in the calendar of wine producers in Georgia and the region. Not only the number of participants, but also the number of winners is growing year by year, which clearly indicates the growing competitiveness of our wines in global markets.

This year, we are expecting a special competition, as we will be presenting our authentic spirits, and above all, chacha, to an international jury,” says Soso Galumashvili, President of the Gurjaani Wine Festival. Registration for the IWSC 2025 Wine & Spirits Judging in Georgia will open on October 7.

Georgian producers will once again have the opportunity to showcase their unique products on the international stage.
